What is a parent class?

• The parent class is a requirement for any student under the age of 18 who is completing the full driver’s education program. 

• This class is a 2-hour online course required by the Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) for parents or guardians to complete before the student can begin behind-the-wheel lessons with a professional driving instructor. 

• The class is used to review: 

  • Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) Rules and Regulations  

  • An overview of the driver’s education curriculum 

  • How students can obtain their learner’s permit 

  • Junior Operator License (JOL) law and the Safe Driver Law 

  • Restriction of Junior Operator License (JOL)   

  • An overview of driver’s education requirements, including 12 behind-the-wheel lessons
